Risk Management is a process whereby an attempt is made to identify,
evaluate and control loss exposures to minimize the adverse effects
of unpredictable events. It involves:
Identification
of Potential Risks
Evaluation
of Risks
-- Probability
-- Consequences
The
Management of Risks
-- Risks to be
eliminated
-- Risks to be
limited
-- Risks to be
accepted
UNLV believes the process of risk management should be to reduce
and manage risks while maintaining student leadership development
through experiential learning.
The goals of Proactive Risk Management guidelines are to ensure
event planners plan and host events where everyone involved has
a safe and fun experience. Risk Management involves determining
potential and perceived risks involved in activities, as well as
supervising organization activities and taking corrective actions
and proactive steps to minimize accidental injury and/or loss. In
order for events to remain a positive part of the UNLV experience,
it is important planners take precautions and carefully plan their
activities so they can avoid situations that may jeopardize the
safety and well-being of the UNLV campus community.
